Major League Baseball seems to be paying attention; whoulda thunk it?
A day after protesters rallied against Arizona’s new illegal immigration law outside Wrigley Field in Chicago, Major League Baseball thrust itself into the national debate. The law permits police officers who have “reasonable suspicion” that a person may be in the United States illegally to demand proof of legal residency.
The baseball players’ union said it opposed the law and raised concerns about how foreign-born players, who make up about a quarter of major league rosters, and their families would be affected.
I read today that Arizxon is most like France now. See the excellent discussion by James Fallows here and be sure to read his previous post as well:

But already the Arizona politicians are watering down the bill trying to make it pass constitutional muster or to stop the boycotts but that isn't going to do a bit of good. But don't count on this Arizona legislature to strike it down. Just think of South Carolina which has been boycotted by the NAACP for many years and yet the state is still flying the Confederate flag in front of their statehouse, their #1 industry, tourism be damned.
